Model history

A visit to the 18 inch gauge Steeple Grange Light Railway helped inspire Phoenix Tug, a steel bodied ride on battery locomotive.

Historical versions used two 1 hp motors and a digital controller, with batteries in the front compartment, storage beneath the seat and a rear mechanical handbrake. Different seating arrangements were offered.

A later request for improved operation on tight curves helped lead to the bogie Hefty. Both designs form part of Phoenix’s ride on locomotive history.
