Model history
The 5 inch gauge Class 52 Western was part of the Express Locos range before Phoenix Locomotives was formed in 2004.
The model continued in the Phoenix catalogue, reproducing the distinctive outline of the Western diesel hydraulic locomotive.

Phoenix described a moulded GRP Western body complemented by cast brass details, cast steel spring beams and modelled cab interiors, aiming to reproduce the character of the full-size diesel hydraulic locomotives.
