Model history

The F7 Heavy Haul belongs at the beginning of the Express Locos story. Keith McDonald’s account dates the business to a collaboration in 2000 to build a 7¼ inch gauge GM F7.

The battery electric locomotive was designed for load hauling. Original company photographs record an F7 in passenger service and views of its bogies, batteries and chassis.

Later records include F7 body development material for 5 inch and 7¼ inch gauges. This page preserves the design history and photographs; current product enquiries should be directed to MRW.
